A letter from Rosie            Rosie playing at the opening of a boutique in Burgess Hill, Sussex. We were arrested, as the police thought we were only going to be using acoustic guitars!

The above pictures are from '73. An incredible band called Rosie. This was a loud kick-ass rock'n'roll band. One of my favourite forays into the music world. We were great buddies, excellent musicians, living in Berlin, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. We were always skint, but never short of sex and drugs and rock and roll. Leo, the guitar player in the boiler suit, was sadly killed in a car crash  a while back. He was a brilliant guitar player. The fifth guy who appears in some of the shots, was Sven. He was a roadie for the band. A loony with it, he blew his brains out with a shotgun. This is before Kurt Cobain was even born!! Our other roadie hung himself from the back of the dining room door. I found him one morning when I came down for me cornflakes and marmite on toast. It put me off breakfast for a long time. Mind you, I am not sure what that says about the music though. I don't  know what Jocken, the drummer is up to now. I think that he is living in Berlin. Paul Ketley, amazing bass player, and songwriter (long blond hair, and looking butch) is living in Frankfurt , and doing alright.

Only four of Rosie's recorded tracks survive, and not in brilliant condition. They were recorded live in a Berlin studio, in one take, with overdubbed handclaps, in 1973. A couple of standard R&B tracks, done a trifle differently, and the second two are band originals. Click on the titles to hear.
